Jeju Island, Korea, the new 7 natural wonder of the world

Recently Jeju Island has been proclaimed as one of the new 7 natural wonder of the world. We went on a tour of Korea and spent 2 nights there. From the number of flights from Seoul to Jeju, the popularity of this island is quite evident from both the locals as well as foreigners.

The airport was festively decorated and what is great in Korea is the availability of free wifi in the airports.

This is the view of the main city in Jeju Island. It is not a large island and the main city is not large. So, it is still possible to retain its quaint nature.

The island has a lot of green and it is actually a volcano and the soil is very rich for cultivation of plants and animals. Tangerines is also one of the main exports from here. In order to preserve its natural heritage, wind farms are also found as the island can face very strong winds as we found out at the hotel.

The tour bought us to this place where the built this church and it became famous as it was used in many of the Korean dramas and movies. As the Korean dramas and movies is becoming one of the hottest trends in Asia, throngs come here just to see this place. The surrounding area to this place is actually quite breathtaking. It is rugged and yet also very sereene.

At the parking area, one could also find some restaurants and shops selling local seafood delicacies. These were made up of some types of shell fish, sea creatures, squids and also some insect looking things. Very interesting but not looking too appertising.

One thing that I have read and seen in documentaries about Jeju is regarding the Jeju women who can dive without apparatus fore more than 5 minutes to look for sea urchins and other sea creatures. Unfirtunately as it is in winter, we could not find any. Maybe the next time. I have also written about other attractions in Jeju separately.

Until the next time, cheers.
