Church on La Rambla in Barcelona, Spain

I stumbled on this quaint church located along La Rambla in Barcelona, Spain. Unfortunately, I had not been able to get the name of the church. Even my search google and google map also could not yield a name.

One of the main difference is this church does not have a main altar. The altars all seem to be at each side chapel. The place where the main altar normally sits is a statue of Mother Mary.

St Nicholas parish in Atocha, Madrid, Spain

During our trip to Spain in March 2013, I attended mass at the nearby church to the apartment where we stayed. It is not a large church and serves primarily for the local community. The church is decorated very nicely though.

Madrid's Royal Palace and Cathedral

The Royal Palace of Madrid is one of the must see places in Madrid. We visited the palace on a very cold and rainy morning. We took the subway and then a leisurely 10 minutes walk, we are at the palace gate.

Security was very tight though but it was worth it. The audio guide was full of interesting information but it was very unfortunate that no photography was allowed.

There are beautiful rooms decorated in different styles. One could compare this place with the Schonbunn Palace in Vienna. There are also collections of very nice paintings, ceramics and also very valuable Stradivarius violins.The royal pharmacy was also very interesting. The royal chapel was also very beautiful.

We also visited theAlmudena cathedral was built next to the Spanish Royal Palace and was completed in time for the wedding of the Spanish Princess in 1993. It took nearly 100 years to finish the church.

Barcelona Cathedral or Cathedral of the Holy Cross and St Eulalia

The cathedral in Barcelona is one of the oldest churches in Spain. It was principally built between the 13th to 15th centuries. We visited this place one morning when it was raining heavily and was very cold.

The cathedral is located within the Barri Gothic or the old city.

The church is in Gothic style and very impressive too. As it also very large, there are many altars on the sides of the wall.

There is a secluded cloister at the side of the cathedral and to our amazement, there was a flock of very large geese.

This is the view of one of the chapel for quite prayer and meditation with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.

These beautiful old churches are always a joy to visit.
