La Familia Sagrada, Barcelona, Spain

The most famous icon in Barcelona is Gaudi's La Familia Sagrada or Holy Family Cathedral. It's listed as the No 1 place to visit in Barcelona. My suggestion is that you go there early as the place gets crowded in the late morning and the ticket queue gets to be very long. It opens at 9 am.

The church construction is still on going after so many years and its currently undertaken by a Japanese consortium and its expected to be finished in a few years.

However, one can see the difference in the work of the original work and the new one, maybe it was purposely done that way.

Anyhow, this is actually a church and was consecrated by Pope Benedict XVI a few years ago. However, masses are not held frequently in the main cathedral but daily masses are held in the chapel on the lower floor.

The whole place is designed with sybolisms and it's atonishing to listen to Gaudi's ideas. He was definitely, a great man. You can also obtain an audio guide and it's worth it as it describes many many information.

New work. Not the same design.
If one wants to go up the tower, one has to purchase the tickets together with the admission. Don't miss this opportunity. It's worth it. You don't have to climb up as there is a lift to bring you up. However, you have the option to climb down if you wish.

You really have to see yourself the grandness of the place and all the photos do not do it justice. Hope you can make it here in the future.

Until the next time, cheers.
