Saturday evening at Jonker Walk, Melaka

The last few times when I went to Jonker Walk was during Chinese New Year and that too was quite a few years ago. During my recent trip to Melaka, we had the opportunity to go there on a Saturday night. I must say that I was very impressed with the way the area has developed and the crowd spoke for itself. The effort to turn the place into a vibrant tourist attraction I think will repay itself many folds with the number of visitors to the place. Well done to the authorities for a good job!

The main entrance "gate"
Another "gate" fully sponsored!
The Methodist church near the entrance.
Good crowd!
Lots of shops.
Entertainment in a Chinese opera setting.
Ice lollies with flavored syrup.
Food street selling all types of street food.
Lots of hawker stalls too.
Perfume stall.
Potato chips.
Lights for Christmas? Same as in Chatuchak, Bangkok.
Lots of people.
Pasar malam atmosphere.
There were also many food outlets and pubs for those looking for entertainment. The restoration of old buldings were also very interesting and the with these lighted up, the buildings are returned to their former glory.

A Chinese clan building.
A Chinese association building.
Chinese temple.
Lots of small hotels on Jonker street too.
Another Chinese temple.
This place is worth visting to all those who are visiting Melaka.

Until the next time, cheers.
