Holiday Inn at Alpensia Resort, Korea

During our Korean tour, we stayed at the Holiday Inn at Alphensia Resort in Korea. I was very surprised as the whole ski resort was very new and was built for the future winter olympics, I was told.

Anyhow, the hotel and resort is very nice and comfortable and due to the alpine weather, it was realy nice to walk around and enjoy the cold weather. The Yuletide season and decoration also made the whole place so much more merry.

I really enjoyed the stay here as it was not crowded nor busy and wish we could stay longer.

Until the next time, cheers.

Myeongdong Shopping Area in Seoiulo, Korea

During our tour of Korea, we were also given a few hours to walk around another shopping district, Myeongdong. The shops in this area is almost a pedestrian area and quite pleasant to walk around.

With many shops, the ladies are loving this place and one of the main items to shop here is cosmetics. Apparently the cosmetics here are very good (see the beautiful skin of the Korean actresses and singers).

There were also a number of Christmas trees and also Christian volunteers preaching and singing Christmas hymns. The presence of the Salvation Army was also quite prominent. This is not surprising when you take into account that almost half of Koreans are Christians.

The time passed rather quickly here and very soon, it was time to move on again, that's the problem with joining a group tour as they always try to jam pack the itenary and you end of seeing many places but not being able to really experience the place properly.

Until the next time, cheers.

Jeju Folk Village in Jeju Island, Korea

We had a quick stop at the Jeju Folk Village. Actually the short trip was very interesting to learn about the local culture but it helps if the tour guide is very knowledgeable and also funny. If you were to come here by yourself, I think you will be lost.

However, the place was quite deserted and is not attracting the crowds. I wonder why? It was interesting to learn about the traditions here and the practises of the locals here as they have a very different language and culture from the mainland Koreans.

Traditional hut
How the locals use to live.
The island is famous for its black pigs.
Agriculture is also a main island activity.
Stone walls are built around villages and huts.

Again the Jeju statue

As in my other article, there was the Jeju statue where if you rub it's nose, you will be blessed with a baby boy and if you rub it's tummy, you will be prosperous.

Until the next time, cheers.
