We went to Koh Chang in June 2017 which is the low season due to the rainy season. The whole island was rather quiet and a number of restaurants also took the opportunity to close with the owner going back to Europe for holiday.
We used trip advisor as a basis of choosing where to eat but this place was recommended to us by another restaurant. She told us that the food there was good and she was absolutely spot on.
The owners were Italians and have opened the place for more than 7 years. The menu is limited but enough to keep you satisfied. There are also specials from time to time.
After some recommendation from the chef/owner, we settled with mostly homemade dishes and specials.
We started with the mixed antipasto with various cold meats including Parma ham, spicy Sicilian salami and aged cheeses and beef carpaccio. There is also Pork with tuna sauce. A very nice start to the dinner.
One of the special was bruschetta with olives and feta cheese. Simple but fantastic.
The bread were homemade too and very good.
Next dish was our favourite, duck ravioli with truffle cream sauce. We loved the sauce so much that we had bread to mop up the whole plate.
We also had the ravioli with cheese and tomatoes which was one of their specials. It was good too but our hearts were with the duck ravioli.
We also ordered 2 pizzas, the quarttro formaggio and spicy salami with feta cheese.
Both of them very good and we enjoyed the crust very much. Someone it was much better than most pizzas that we have eaten.
Although we were practically stuffed, there's always room for dessert as my daughter says. We enquired which were good and wanted only those homemade. In the end we ordered 3 types.
The owner recommended us the panna cotta with a choice of caramel or strawberry sauce. We chose the caramel. That was our favourite.
He also recommended the afrigatto parfait which was also very good.
Finally, we had the tiramisu which was good but we ranked it 3rd.
We liked this place so much that we come back on the last night.
The meal with many bottled water and a glass of white wine was about Baht 2,500 which is very reasonable.
We promised the owner to be back. I am sure we will.
Until then, cheers.
